Harry Redknapp signed a new contract Monday that will keep him at the club through the 2010-11 season.
The former West Ham manager is in his second spell in charge of the south coast team.
He guided the club to the Premier League in 2003 and, having returned following an unsuccessful time with local rivals Southampton, saved Portsmouth from relegation in 2005 and last season led it to ninth place — its highest league finish for 52 years.
“Since returning to Fratton Park, I have had nothing but the utmost support from the owner Sacha Gaydamak and chief executive Peter Storrie,” Redknapp said. “They have backed me 100 percent in the transfer market and I am genuinely excited about the group of players I have here with me now.”
Portsmouth is currently seventh in the Premier League with 19 points from 11 games.
