Portsmouth’s Dockyards are in the enviable position of having too much work the increased work on the new Queen Elizabeth Class carriers has meant that the second in a three ship order from Trinadad and Tobago for 295ft coastal anti-piracy vessels will be built on the Clyde.

The lead vessel, worth around £50m each, is now under construction in Portsmouth, and will be completed here as planned.  BVT, the BAE-led firm building the vessels, stressed there was no impact on jobs for the city. The build location for the third vessel has yet to be decided.
